bp has announced the appointment of Carlos Barrasa as Executive President of the company in Spain . Barrasa, who took office on January 1, 2021, will continue his duties as vice president of the Integrated Solutions business, a position recently created to contribute to the decarbonization of cities and large companies, which responds to his objective of becoming a company net zero emissions by 2050 or sooner. Carlos Barrasa replaces Luis Aires , president of bp Spain for the last six years, who moves to Latin America as head of Downstream at Pan American Energy Group (PAEG) , a bp group company in Buenos Aires. Until the end of February, he will continue as president of the Spanish Association of Petroleum Products Operators (AOP).
The new president of the company in Spain began his career at bp in 2000 and moved to the United Kingdom in 2007, a country from which he has led the transformation and growth of the businesses in the Phone Number List Downstream area . Among them, the growth strategy of the global Marine business, the direction of industrial lubricants in Europe and Asia Pacific, and the implementation of the sustainable growth program in Europe. Since 2015, residing in Shanghai, he has led the growth of the lubricants business as vice president of Castrol China , which has become a market leader. Born in Valladolid, Carlos Barrasa has a degree in Industrial Chemistry from the Complutense University of Madrid and an executive MBA from the international school IE Business School. In addition, he has studied commercial management and marketing at Kellogg and ESADE Business School.
